I was recently introduced to music by the artist Soulja Boy; then later the lyrics. I am absolutely disgusted. No, let me think of a stronger word... I am OUTRAGED. I know that he is only one of thousands that exist that sell a lie that sex and "bling bling" are the pinnacle of accomplishments but we have to start somewhere and he is in my crosshairs.
I think what upsets me the most is that this type of music, his music, is publicly aired and available to the younger generations when it should not only be placed on a shelf in "adult" music stores in the X-rated section behind painted black windows, but thrown in the garbage where it and the rest of the filth belongs. The source of the problem is obviously not found in this "boy" alone, but there is no doubt that his music and behavior was influenced by the same empty rubbish where he was not only exposed to the lifestyle he sings about, but was encouraged to find his value and worth from it.
The buck needs to stop here. Dont sell the same falsehood to our children! We can't change history, but we can learn from it and reform the future. I pray that artists and individuals, that promote godforsaken behavior, would recant and reject their blatantly explicit conduct and set an example for the youth (and adults) based on a recognition of the error of their ways.
